Narratives and Mavericks

This program is framed by two sonatas: one by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, a short story of sudden turns, and another by Franz Schubert, an epic novel unfolding at its own unhurried pace. At its center lies the zany interplay of spoken text and music in the works of two great 20th-century mavericks, Erik Satie and John Cage. Pianist Pedja Muzijevic threads these unlikely companions into an hour-long arc, pairing bold juxtapositions with genuine joy.
